‘Lack of toilets spurring malnourishment in Gujarat’

Women and girls don't eat or drink between 6pm and 6am to avoid needing to venture out to relieve themselves AHMEDABAD: The lack of toilets is the major reason for malnourishment in Gujarat, state health commissioner Jayanti Ravi said on Saturday. She said that women and girls in rural areas do not eat or drink water from 6pm to 6am as they will have to go out into the open to relieve themselves.Ravi said that when she was handling the Swachhta Mission, she had to reach out to people in rural areas to motivate them to construct toilets.
